Promotion Code is the code the customer will enter during the purchase product to receive the promotion. Examples of promotion codes could be EXTRA10 or BOGO18.
Description helps to describe what the promotion is useful for. When applied successfully the description will display to the customer as well as within confirmation emails. An example description could be “Save 10% on all merchandise this October!”
Type determines what type of promotion this will be. There are currently three types of promotions available:
Flat Rate promotions take a flat monetary amount off of the purchase price. Example: the customer is buying $100 of products and they apply a promotion for this type, they might receive $10 off their total purchase for $90.
Percent promotions take a percentage off the total purchase price. Similar to the flat rate type except the value of the discount is not fixed, it’s determined based on the total purchase price. An example could be if the customer is buying $100 off but applied a promotion for 25% off, they would only pay $75.
Buy One Get One Percentage Off promotions allow you to run a promotion where you discount a purchase if the customer buys in multiples of two. An example of this is if a customer has two participants for an activity for a total of $200 but applies a Buy One Get One Percentage Off promotion of 50% the will pay $100 for the first participant and $50 for the second participant for a total of $150 overall.
Amount correlates to the amount of discount. In the case of Flat Rate this will be a fixed dollar amount off whereas Percent and Buy One Get One Percentage Off will be a percentage.
You have the option to restrict use of this promotion in a number of ways. This section of configuration allows you to set these restrictions.
Eligible Activities allows you to set restrictions on what products the promotion can be valid for. By default this is blank, representing all products, however if you wish to only allow the promotion for certain products, select them here.
Valid Activity Date Ranges
You also have the option, with scheduled activities, to restrict a promotion based on the dates of an activity. A promotion might only be valid for activity dates from 10/1 to 10/7. If the customer were to purchase the activities and selected an activity date within that window the promotion would apply. By default these fields are blank representing the promotion is valid for all activity dates.
Valid From Date is the start date range for an activity date to be valid.
Valid To Date is the end date range for an activity date to be valid.
You also have the ability to restrict a promotion based on the dates of purchase. A promotion might only be valid for products purchased from 9/1 to 9/30 but scheduled activities could be purchased for April of next year. If the customer were to purchase any products within this window the promotion would apply. By default these fields are blank representing the promotion is valid for all purchase dates.
Valid From Date is the start date range for the purchase date to be valid.
Valid To Date is the end date range for the purchase date to be valid.
When you are finished creating your promotion select Save Changes to save your promotion. Selecting Cancel will discard your changes.
