Create a Customized Dashboard
To set up a new dashboard for your shop, start by clicking on Dashboard in the main navigation while logged in to your TRYTN account. From here, click on the green +New Dashboard button at the top of the page.
The New Dashboard overlay will appear on your screen.
Here, you will start to create your new dashboard by entering the following information:
STEP 1: Create a Title
In the Title field, enter a concise name to describe your dashboard. This is the name you will access to view your saved dashboard settings in the future.
STEP 2: Determine Level of Visibility
Under the Visibility setting, you can determine who has access to your new dashboard. Select "Private" if you wish to keep the dashboard private to only you. Select "Shared" to share it with other users with accounts assigned to your shop.
STEP 3: Choose a Layout Design
Under Layout, you will select the structure of your dashboard, which includes the shape and sizes of widgets on the dashboard screen. To view all layout types, see Dashboard Layout Options later in this article.
STEP 4: Save Your Settings
Once you've completed the settings for your new dashboard, click Save Changes at the bottom of the page overlay. On the next screen you see the template you've chosen for your dashboard (example below).
These dashboard settings can be updated at any time. Note that if you change the layout any widgets you have added will be automatically moved into the first column of the first row.
Add Widgets to your Dashboard
To start adding widgets to your dashboard, you must first put the dashboard into 'Edit mode' by clicking the click the blue Edit Dashboard button and then clicking Add Widget button at the top of the page.
From the Add Widget overlay, you can click any of the green "+" to expand categories and determine which widgets best accomplish the goals needed for your dashboard. Only one widget can be selected at a time. Once you have made a selection, click Add Widget at the bottom of the overlay to view it on your dashboard layout.
On our sample dashboard below, we added the widget "Orders by Product Type."
Note that each time you add a new widget to your dashboard, it will be added to the first (top-left) placement in the layout, however you can reorganize them to any placement you like. As you make changes to the widget arrangement, click the blue Save Changes button to see your changes implemented in the dashboard layout and ensure your changes are retained.
Widget Types
There are 4 types of data you can pull for your dashboard; each is indicated with one of the icons shown below.
Below we've included examples for each type of dashboard widget, along with any available setting options. See Create a Customized Widget if you prefer to design your own instead of choosing one of the preset options.
TYPE 1: Chart Widgets
Several preset widgets offer results displayed in chart format. Settings for these widgets allow you to choose the type of chart preferred to best display your data: bar chart, pie chart or table (table display is only available for customized widgets). Note: Settings can only be selected once you add a widget to the dashboard view.
Below we've included an example to show the Orders by Product Type widget, including sample charts that can be created if it is selected.
Once a widget has been placed into the dashboard, you can scroll over a chart to see the specific counts. For example, in the bar chart below you can see there were a total of 15 orders placed on Tuesday.

- Orders by Day of the Week

- Revenue by Product Type

Widget Settings
You'll notice when you add widgets to your dashboard that Chart, Numeric Value and Calendar widget types include a blue Settings button. This option allows you to configure the widget display when in Edit mode. Settings options for each type of widget are explained in detail below.
Settings for Chart & Numeric Value Widgets
When the Settings button is clicked for a Chart or Numeric Value widget type, you have the option to choose the following:
1. Date Range
Using the dropdown menu, you have the ability to select whether you'd like the Numeric Value or Chart to display results for the current day (Today), the previous day (Yesterday), the previous week (Last 7 Days) or the previous month (Last 30 Days), depending on what is preferable for your dashboard metrics display. Note: This setting is available to update the data for Chart widgets and Numeric Value widgets only; not all Numeric Value widgets are applicable. The date range selected will be displayed in the top right corner of the widget when in the dashboard view.
2. How the Data is Displayed
While Numeric Value widgets can only display as Single Value, Chart Widgets offer the ability to change the type of chart presented on the dashboard view. By using the dropdown menu, you can select whether you wish to include a Bar Chart, Pie Chart or Table to display your data. Note that Table is only available for custom widgets.
3. Number of Results Shown
For select Chart Widgets, you can specify the number of results you would like to display. Use the dropdown menu to select either 5, 10 or 15 results, based on your preference for the chart. Note: The number of results shown for Numeric Value widgets will always be a count or total, and therefore a single value will be displayed at all times.
Settings for Calendar Widgets
When the Settings button is clicked for a Calendar widget, you have the option to configure the following Display Settings, Product Filters and Booking Filters.
1. Display Settings
The checkboxes under Display Settings allow you to select your preferences in terms of what information appears on each scheduled product on the calendar. Each of these options is explained in more detail below.
Activity Title
Activity Title is included for all calendar items and cannot be de-selected.

Any combination of these 3 Display Settings checkboxes may be selected. If all 3 are chosen, the calendar will include the activity time, as well as the number of spots booked and still available.
Note: Staff and Assets will only appear for calendar events where staff members and/or activity assets have previously been assigned. For more details, see Staff Setup & Management and Assets. To assign assets to your products, see Scheduled Activities - Schedule Settings.
2. Product Filters
The checkboxes under Product Filters provide the option to narrow what is shown on the dashboard calendar view to only invoices, products available for online booking, only products that are not available for online booking, or both/all. The checkboxes under the public versus private checkboxes offer the option to narrow what is shown on the dashboard calendar view to only products with completed bookings, only those without any bookings, or both/all.
Simply check all boxes for settings you want to see on your widget and click Save Changes to update the current widget configuration. All changes will be incorporated on each calendar date for this particular dashboard widget.
Create a Customized Widget
When generating a dashboard, you have the option to add your own customized widget based on custom reports saved to your TRYTN account. (To create a new custom report, see our Generate a Custom Report article.) To set up a customized widget for your dashboard from the Dashboard screen, get started by either opening an existing dashboard or creating a new one. Then click the blue Add Widget button at the top of the page.
At the bottom of the category list, click on + Custom Widget to expand the selection.
Here you will see 3 dropdown menus used to select the data used to build your custom widget. Each of these is explained in detail below.
1. Custom Report
In the first column, click the Custom Report menu to select one of the custom reports from your TRYTN account. The report you select here will be used to pull data for your widget.
2. Display As
Using the Display As dropdown menu, you can choose the type of visual used to present the chosen data from your custom report: Bar Chart, Pie Chart, or Table.
3. Select a Date Range
In the final dropdown menu, labeled Select a Date Range, you can choose the dates from which data will be pulled for your widget results. Depending on the report chosen to create your widget, you have the option to select either the current date, dates from the past, or dates in the future. Date ranges that are not applicable for the particular report chosen will be greyed out and not available for selection.
Once all selections have been made, click the green Add Widget button and your custom widget will be added to the dashboard. See Widget Settings, if needed, to adjust the chart type, date range, and/or number of results displayed in the dashboard view at any time.
