SCENARIO: Your business offers a scheduled activity that has a different cost for weekend versus weekday occurrences.
SOLUTION: When creating your activity on TRYTN, you can easily set up this pricing variation under the Scheduled Activities Schedule Settings tab. Here's how:
STEP 1: Navigate to Schedule Settings
For a New Activity
If you need to create a new activity, start with this article: Creating Scheduled Activities - Basic Settings. Once the activity's basic settings tab is complete, move to Step 2 below.
For an Existing Activity
To make edits to Schedule Settings for an existing activity, navigate to your scheduled product from the Products link in the TRYTN site navigation. Then click the associated Actions menu and select Schedule Settings for your activity.
STEP 2: Set Up WEEKDAY Occurrence Time Slot
On the Schedule Settings page, you will see a table of available time slots for your activity. Following along with this scenario, we will set up 2 time slots with the same start and end time: one for weekday occurrences and another for weekend occurrences. Here, we'll get started by creating the WEEKDAY time slot first.
To add the new weekday time slot, click the +Add button on this page. (Or, to edit an existing time slot, find the time you wish to update from the Time Slots table, and then click Edit under the associated Actions menu.)
Next, you will set up your time slot, starting with Section 1: Offered Times.
Here, you will enter the start and end time for your activity, purchase cut off timing, and select any other variables that apply to this particular event. When finished, select Save and Continue. (Note: For more detailed instructions on each section under Scheduled Settings, see our article Scheduled Activities - Schedule Settings.)
Next, under Section 2: Recurrence Settings, you will identify which days of the week your activity will occur and set any applicable recurrence patterns. In this scenario, since we will set up the first time slot for our weekday occurrences, we will select only days Monday through Friday (and de-select Saturday and Sunday).
In addition, you will need to include the start and end dates for this occurrence, the recurrence pattern, and select any applicable checkboxes. When finished, select Save and Continue. (Note: Please see Scheduled Activities - Schedule Settings for more detailed instructions on each section under Scheduled Settings, if needed.)
Next, under Section 3: Pricing, you will indicate the price for your activity.
Below is a sample price label and amount for our weekday activity scenario.
Note: If you charge different prices for ticket tiers (e.g., adult versus child tickets) you may need to create additional price labels (such as "Adult Weekday" and "Child Weekday"). After clicking Save and Continue, you can do this by clicking on +Add and creating any necessary variations.
Finally, continue to Section 4: Capacity to set your activity's capacity limits and assign any asset management strategies needed for this activity. (Note: See Scheduled Activities - Schedule Settings for more detailed instructions on Capacity settings, if needed.)
When complete, click Save and Continue at the bottom of the screen. You will then see your time slot added to the Time Slots table on the Schedule Settings page.
STEP 3: Set Up WEEKEND Occurrence Time Slot
Now we will go through the same process for WEEKEND occurrences of the activity. To get started, click +Add and simply repeat the steps above for Saturday and Sunday, including the alternative weekend pricing. The areas that will be different for this scenario are as follows:
Recurrence Settings > Days of the Week (Saturday & Sunday)
Pricing > Price Label and Amount (Weekend Example)
When complete, click Save and Continue at the bottom of the screen. Both weekend and weekday assignments will then be added to the Time Slots table on the Schedule Settings page.
That's it! Once your activity is published, customers who select this event for purchase will be charged the appropriate pricing based on whether the activity date falls on a weekday or weekend.
